Justine Kurland: Sincere Auto Care
Opening Sept. 4, 6-8PM and on view through Oct. 11.
Mitchell-Innes & Nash (534 WEST 26TH ST)
Her third solo exhibition opens tonight at MIN--her latest since The Train is Bound for Glory in 2009. In that series, named after the Woodie Guthrie song, Kurland documented train hoppers and hobo culture in the American West for over two years. Her images mix documentary observation with with romantic idealism, and make being homeless wanderer seem close to godliness. I'm psyched to see what she will do with mechanics. The exhibition will coincide with a group exhibition curated by the artist at their 1018 Madison Avenue location titled Days Inn.
